Scope

What this page covers

mihaiel.com is a personal portfolio website. The main privacy-relevant features are the contact form, email delivery through PHPMailer and Dynu SMTP, self-hosted Analytics, and technical logs generated by the reverse proxy, nginx, PHP, and Docker-based infrastructure.

The site aims to keep data collection lean. No advertising trackers are used, and analytics are operated through a self-hosted Plausible setup rather than a third-party ad-tech platform.

Contact Form

Data processed when you send a message

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Subject line
  • Message content
  • Technical metadata needed to defend the form against abuse, such as request timing and security checks

The form is used only to receive and answer your message.

Email Delivery

How messages are sent

Contact form messages are processed on the server by PHPMailer. Outgoing email is sent via the configured SMTP relay over TLS. The site also sends an automatic confirmation reply to the address you submit through the form.

Email messages may include DKIM signing data to improve deliverability and authenticity. Once a message is delivered, it may also be stored in the recipient mailbox as part of normal communication handling.

Analytics

Self-hosted Analytics

This site uses a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics Community Edition available under analytics.mihaiel.com.

Plausible is used to understand page popularity, referrers, and high-level usage trends. It is used in its privacy-focused form to produce aggregated statistics without adding a traditional cookie banner for analytics.

Infrastructure

Server, proxy, and Docker logs

When the site is accessed, technical logs can be created by the reverse proxy, nginx, PHP runtime, and Docker-based services. These logs can contain information such as IP address, requested URL, date and time, HTTP status code, referrer, and user agent.

These logs are used for security monitoring, troubleshooting, abuse prevention, and stable operation of the infrastructure.

Storage

Retention and deletion

Contact form emails are kept only as long as needed to handle the conversation, maintain records of relevant communication, or meet legal obligations. Infrastructure logs are retained only as long as necessary for security, debugging, and system administration.

Exact retention periods can vary depending on the service involved and the operational needs of the system. Data that is no longer needed is deleted or allowed to expire in the normal course of operations.

Recipients

Who may receive data

  • Mihaiel Birta as site operator and recipient of contact messages
  • Dynu as SMTP relay provider for form-related email delivery
  • Infrastructure components required to run the self-hosted site and analytics stack

Personal data is not sold and is not shared with advertising networks.

Your Rights

Access, correction, deletion, objection

Under the GDPR, you may have the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability where applicable, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Privacy Requests

Need clarification or want something deleted?

Send a message to birta.mihaiel@outlook.com and describe your request clearly. If your request concerns a contact form email, include enough context to identify it, such as the approximate date and the email address used.
